Leigh Scott has once again surpassed his own greatness with the film “Flu Birds.” Shock and awe came over me as I felt sickened, moved and generally terrified while watching this film. The SciFi channel has always been known for greatness(what other station gives us Anacondas 3 and Lochness Monster?) but this film was different. It’s as though Leigh Scott channeled Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock when making this. It also plays mind games with you as Nolan did in his great film “Memento” but it’s a little more subtle than that. At the 70 minute mark, you will ask yourself if you can handle this anymore? I honestly think that I wet myself a little. Well, Leigh Scott does what he’s known for best once again and pulls the carpet from under you. You will question the laws of Earth and wonder if gravity is real? I’m no solipsist but the dread that sat in after Scott played the part of puppet master once again just had me needing a Xanax. I don’t smoke but I felt like it. I had cold sweats and thought I was coming down with something. Did you ever see “Ringu?” Well, this film is the real version of that. I am honestly psyched for Scott’s upcoming film which will be him tackling another transgressive mind H.P. Lovecraft. Fear not folks, you thought Stuart Gordon could make a great Lovecraft adaption but the truth is coming! The man behind such brilliance as “Transmorphers” and “The Beast of Bray Road” is now tackling Lovecraft!!! Hell yeah!
